Yes, use masking tape over the forms and such when you're gluing up the strips. That'll prevent them from becoming permanently attached.

Thanks for at least getting to the crux of my dilemma Bryan. Love of the workmanship was the driving force.

Hey, Bill,

If you love it, that's all that matters.

You craftsmen are way beyond my talent base, but I bought a cedar canoe the other day and I am being pummeled by everyone that knows me. This canoe was in a outfitters/marina and and over the last several years, I have marveled at the beauty and craftsmanship involved.
I could not afford it but owner offered it to me and I bit at $1600.00 but he was asking more for it. It is a 1998 Great Canadian and has never seen water. I feel very disillusioned as I am critiqued. I bought it for calm waters, yet looking for some positive feedback or negative, as Im surely used to that the last several days, but I love this canoe. It is my 57 Chevy.

That's a tough one. Most of this was originally posted in the Builder's Forum at http://www.myccr.com. I don't remember any pictures, otherwise, I'm sure we would have used them here. He posted as "lightjay."

Bryan,

I drop by here often and sometimes re-read the article by Jay Morrison. Do you know if he has any pictures posted anywhere showing some of the details?

I've been reading a little about ecopoxy. Apparently it's the hardener and not the resin that's the bad stuff, and ecopoxy's MSDS on the hardener looks about the same as everyone else.....could be a 'Green' sales pitch. One can make resin out of almost anything....even sheep dip....doesn't make the end product 'green' unless the mixed product is also natural.

Has anyone tried ecopoxy systems? wets out really well and it's 100% natural. no chemical! I find it stiffer and easier to use.
