What weighs 13.8 ounces and is made from wood?

Right now I’m testing out a prototype wood canoe paddle that weighs 13.8 ounces on my scale. It feels feather light in the hand. It’s stiff but has just enough flex to feel good. Plus it looks really sexy. More to come as I test this paddle throughout the summer.

Here are a few pictures:

  • Nice light wood paddle then, hope it does well for you… interesting

  • count me intrigued. How thin is the wood on the blade? With the carbon layer it could be really thin.

  • Dude that is very sick ! I make paddles when I build canoes and qayaq’s but never at that weight! More info, photos and description would help feed the “need”.our group of maniacs has liked your posting’s here and on qajaq usa

    • I’m not sure how much I can say about the paddle at this point. It’s made by Sanborn Canoe. There’s some interesting stuff going on on the shaft, but other than that it’s a prototype that I’m testing for them to give them feedback.
