GSI Outdoors Infinity Backpackers Mug Review

The GSI Outdoors Infinity Backpackers Mug is a mug. It holds drinks and you drink out of it. What more can you say about a mug? It works. Buy it.

Seriously though. We’ve had GSI Outdoors Infinity Backpackers Mug for several years in several variations. They have evolved over time. My first one was plastic with just a thin foam sleeve around it. It worked great of hot chocolate and other warm adult drinks. It was light enough at about 3 ounces that you didn’t feel bad about bringing it along on a trip. The next version, which we bought for my wife was basically the same with a foam bottom added. Most recently we bought one for my son that had an upgraded fabric on the outside, a full foam sleeve around the sides and bottom and a nylon webbing handle. The lid was also upgraded from just a hole to pour out the drink into your mouth or as my kid says, “Must have hot chocolate to put in my mouth” into a flip closure lid. While the upgrade wasn’t necessary because the old version worked fine, it is nice if you are trying to keep maximum warmth in the cup. The new version weighs 3.5 ounces. My kid uses the handle and really likes it.

The mug itself holds 17 fluid ounces and it keeps warm liquid warm during the time you’d usually take to drink warm liquid.

It’s hard to review a product that does exactly what it is suppose to do and does it without flaws. The GSI Outdoors Infinity Backpackers Mug does that. It’s perfect.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a mug for yourself or a friend. It really is the perfect camping mug for hot chocolate.
