In these Uncertain Times, a good podcast can mean… Don’t you hate it when companies lead with “in these uncertain times?” I do. If you’re like the rest of humanity, you’re probably listening to too much news or reading too much news on the internet. You need a break. I need a break. We all need a break. I typically listen to a lot of political podcasts, but right now I’m kinda sick of everything, so my retreat as I shelter at home is to listen to outdoor podcasts and hang out in my garage looking at my canoes and kayaks. What do I listen to? I listen to my top 10 outdoor podcasts list. I hope you’ll share in the comments outdoor podcasts that you listen to that I missed, because I’m looking for more.

Paddling Podcasts

WTIP Boundary Waters Podcast: I live near the Boundary Waters and WTIP is my local radio station. They put out a podcast covering all the paddling news from the BWCA. It’s one of the few paddling podcasts that I’ve found that constantly puts out content.

Under the Yoke: One of the few of these top 10 outdoor podcasts that actually covers paddling. It covers paddling and other topics by showcasing individuals and organizations that help to inspire people to get into the outdoors and have an adventure.

Biking Podcasts

Better with Bikes: This is Trek Bikes podcast and it’s gripping enough that you can become engulfed in whatever they are talking about. If you thought this list was going to be all about paddling, then you didn’t read the title close enough. It’s my top 10 outdoor podcasts.

Riding Gravel: A podcast about bikes and riding bikes on gravel. Sometimes a bit too rambling, but the topics stray from topic to topic enough to be entertaining for the entire hour.

The Gravel Ride: A cycling podcast: If you can’t tell, I like cycling just as much as I love paddling, so I listen to a bunch of cycling podcasts. Plus, there just aren’t that many paddling podcasts out there that I’ve found. Perhaps you can let me know about any that you listen to.

Outdoor Inspiration and Lifestyle

Wild Ideas Worth Living: This is REI’s podcast with Shelby Stanger. She interviews an inspirational outdoor enthusiast every episode. It’s always upbeat, and I learn something or find something to think deeply about during each new pod.

The Dirtbag Diaries: A podcast about living the outdoor life.

Go west, young podcast: A podcast devoted to covering environmental advocacy across the American West.

The Sharp End: A podcast covering Accidents in North American Climbing. There’s always a lesson to learn in each episode.

10… What would be your choice for the 10th slot in this list of the top 10 outdoor podcasts?
